ローマのラレンタリアの祭りは12月23日に行われたが、アウグストゥスによって年に2回行うよう命じられた。人々は、煙突の角に住むと考えられていたラレス（家屋で崇拝され、家族の守り神とされる神々の一種）に敬意を表した[1]。また、この祝祭は、ロームルスとレムスの養母であり、ファウストゥルスの妻であるアッカ・ラレンティア（Acca Larentia）を称えるものであるとする説もある[2]。
