=== 出典 =私的解説 ==アグラオニケとはギリシアにおける伝説的な女性であり「月を天上から引き下ろす」と述べていた、とのことである。「'''月を天上から引き下ろす'''」ということは必ずしも'''「月食」'''と一致することなのか？ 文字通り「引き下ろす」のであれば、風船に縄をつけるように引っ張りおろしたりすることではないのか？ と疑問に感じる点はあるが、ともかく、古代ギリシアの人はこの言質を「月食のこと」と捕らえていたようである。管理人がこの点に疑問を呈すのは、ギリシア神話にはないが、近隣のヒッタイトの神話には、「月が嵐で地上に落ちてしまって、それをまた空に戻した。」という神話があるからで、月食は嵐によって起きるものではないので、架空の話とはいえ、「月が地上に落ちる」ことと、「月食」とは古代の人々の中でも「異なる事象」と考えられていたのではないか、と思うからである。ともかく、アグラニオケの伝説は「'''月が天上から落ちる'''」という神話がかつて存在し、その操作や調節を「'''女神が行う'''」とされていたのではないだろうか。しかし、天体の規則的な事象あるいは惑星の運行や日月食といった、一見すると不規則に見えるような事象は古来より人の観察の対象となり、その原因が神話というよりは科学的事象として研究の対象にされやすかったこともあって、各地でかなり統一された規格での神話として確立されにくかったのではないのか、と思う。特に日月食はときどき起きることは起きるが、すぐに通常の状態に戻るものでもあるし、古代の人々にとっては荒天が続いたりすることの方が生活への影響が大きくて問題であったのではないだろうか。 そのため、アグラニオケとは太古において、「'''月の操作を行う女神'''（月神も兼ねていたかもしれない）」とされていたものが、科学的に「月の動きは何者かの意思によるものではない」と確認されていくにつれて女神としての地位を失い、「月の操作を行う」と自分で勝手に述べている魔女、のような姿に変化してしまったものではないか、と思う。アグラニオケという名前は、アリアドネーやアルテミスと同じく、語源はインド・ヨーロッパ祖語 *h₁ngʷ-ni- から派生したものではないか、と思う。
