ダグザは、その大きな権力と威信にもかかわらず、尻をほとんど覆わない短くて荒いチュニックを着て、大きなペニスを地面に引きずる、と、おろかで粗野、滑稽でさえあるように描かれることがある<ref name="CMT" />。これはキリスト教徒がダグザを滑稽なものとする目的で編集したものと考えられている。中世アイルランド語でコア・アンマン (The Fitness of Names)は、それほど道化師的でない絵を描いている。「彼は異教徒の美しい神であり、トゥアハ・デ・ダナーンは彼を崇拝した。」 「彼はその（魔法の）力の大きさゆえに、彼らにとっては地の神であったからである。」と<ref name="CA">''Coir Anmann''.
